Find a GID Practitioner
The busiest Autumn ever! The Mouth Cancer Charity Day was an outstanding success with well over 300 delegates enjoying a stunning walk around the racecourse in clear Autumnal sunshine and a very emotional and thought provoking study day. GID raised £3000 for the charity which, with the gift aid, brings the total to £3750 - a fantastic achievement. The event received excellent coverage in the Gloucestershire Echo, Radio Gloucestershire and Cotswold Life and will raise the profile of mouth cancer and GID.
This was swiftly followed by a masterclass in anterior composites both the theory and the practical given by Jason Smithson. Other groups had their own meetings and there is no doubt that GID is thriving.
The annual wine tasting event was soon upon us and was the usual rip roaring success. The winner of the Nick Saunders Cup was Lucy Conrad, another new name in the wine tasting hall of fame. The champagne was sponsored by SDI and Dental Directory provided some fantastic spot prizes.
And so the festive season begins. The inaugural GID Christmas takes place on December 19th at the Racecourse with all sorts of fun features, magician, photobooth, live band, disco. A champagne reception is being provided by Dental Directory and food and wine are included. Its going to be a good start to Christmas week.
Mid January sees John Tiernan visit us with a much anticipated day on conflict resolution encompassing role play. Please make sure you have registered.
On behalf of the GID committees we wish all our members a Happy Christmas.
A perfect Autumnal day. Approx 200 people walked the course, 2 ran. Fiona Fullerton started the day with aplomb. Photographers from the Echo and Cotswold Life did their bit. The Echo published an account of the day with accompanying snaps on Monday Oct 13th. We raised just under £3k on the day, a tremendous achievement and thanks to all of you who contributed.
The day itself was hugely successful with a unique blend of theory, practical and all brought to life with the moving accounts of people and families who have lived through oral cancer and survived. I thought every aspect of the day was illuminating and quite emotional at times. There were over 300 GID members at the event, I feel sorry for those who did not attend as they missed a real experience.
Mouth Cancer Awareness Day and Update
Start 0800 prompt. GID Hygienists, GID Managers and GID members are covered by their subs. GID Nurses will pay £10.00/head. This to be collected via their group officers and not via the website. Please ignore any prompt to pay, this will be disappearing soon.
The website is currently being improved and updated. If you see any blatant errors please let me know. The joining instructions under sign up tab will be corrected in the next few days. The jobs section should now have the latest job first and there will be a drop off after 3 months. This free to use for members.
Again a reminder to register for courses and please inform me if you are unable to attend. The numbers attending these courses are large and the costs are commensurate with that so accuracy will keep waste and costs down.
The Anterior Composites Hands on Course is filling up, you have to pay £150.00 to confirm your place. Those who haven't paid cannot be guaranteed a place.
