We aim to hold 4 -6 meetings per year which is great value. It is a lovely opportunity to attend a variety of lectures, catch up with other members in a wonderful local venue with a fabulous lunch included. We look forward to seeing you soon. StJohn Crean

Biography

StJohn Crean is Executive Dean of College of Clinical and Biomedical Sciences at University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) following previous posts of Director of Dental Research and Knowledge Transfer from October 2009, Dean of the School of Postgraduate Medical and Dental Education in January 2010. As well as Undergraduate and Postgraduate Dentistry, StJohn is also responsible for the MB BS Programme (which commenced in September 2015) and the MPharm programme in the School of Pharmacy.

StJohn is a Consultant in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon at Blackpool Victoria Hospitals Trust and an Honorary Consultant at University of Morecambe Bay Hospitals Foundation Trust, subsequent to his previous 2 year post of Associate Director of Undergraduate Dental Studies and Year 3 Lead at Peninsula Dental School.

He is currently the Robert Bradlaw advisor in the Faculty of Dental Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons of England and Editor in Chief of the Faculty Dental Journal (FDJ), and was previously President of the Northwest Branch of the British Dental Association but remains Chairman of the Fylde Section.

StJohn holds numerous examinerships at home and abroad advising on the establishment of many dental undergraduate and postgraduate courses and has research interests in safely managing medicalised patients in dentistry and exploring the role of oral bacteria in systemic disease.

Qualifications: BDS, MBBS, FDSRCS, FFGDP (UK), FRCS, FRCS (OMFS), PhD, FHEA
