We aim to hold 4 -6 meetings per year which is great value. It is a lovely opportunity to attend a variety of lectures, catch up with other members in a wonderful local venue with a fabulous lunch included. We look forward to seeing you soon. Sonia Jones RDH CFET

Sonia practices as a Dental Hygienist in Torquay, she also teaches & lectures across the country for Dental Post Graduate Deaneries, BSDHT, BDA and private companies. She is also happy to deliver core subjects in general practice. Sonia is an examiner for the NEBDN and is FAA NUCO level 3 qualified to deliver BLS & AED training and Safecert level 3 qualified to deliver SOVA and Child Protection training.

Law and ethics – Are you up to Standard?


To update DH/T in legal and ethical issues and documentation within the provision of dental care


Objectives: by the end of the session you should be able to:

•      Explain the difference between legal and ethical issues

•      Explain what the GDC is and what it does

•      Keep extensive records for each patient

•      Discuss the 3C’s, Confidentiality, Consent and Complaints

•      Update any policies/documents in your place of work

•      Understand the importance of the GDC standards

 

Learning content: 

Delegates will have had the chance to work with colleagues to update their knowledge on legal and ethical issues that are concerned with their practice of dentistry and their private lives. They will have had chance to apply the GDC standards to every day practice.

Infection Control and how to Prevent Cross Contamination in the Dental Surgery

Delivery of information on cross infection control, decontamination and disinfection procedures in the dental surgery, to understand why cross infection control within the clinical environment is paramount to preventing infections


Objectives: by the end of the session you should be able to: -

•      Define cross infection control

•      Describe the content and purpose of the HTM01-05 document

•      Explain how infections are transmitted

•      Demonstrate good decontamination techniques

•      Apply universal cross infection control procedures in every day practice according to the HTM01-05 document and CQC regulation 12 Safe Care and Treatment

•      Determine which chemical cleaning products to use

•      Wash your hands effectively

•      List the documents/policies required by legislation

 

Learning content:

Delegates will have participated in a session, where they have listened to a lecture, been encouraged to participate in discussions and been involved in Q&A to revise their knowledge on Cross Infection Control in the dental surgery
